ISSUE 11 ARTIST RESIDENCY โ†ด

EMAIL US IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VISUALIZING ๐˜ผ๐™๐™ˆ๐™Š๐™Ž๐™‹๐™ƒ๐™€๐™๐™€

We are seeking visual and performance artists, aviators, and technologists / engineers / programmers / builders / musicians and sound designers / producers interested in supporting projects exploring the intersection of aerodynamics and art making.

Issue 11 ๐˜ผ๐™๐™ˆ๐™Š๐™Ž๐™‹๐™ƒ๐™€๐™๐™€ will ask selected artists to consider how to make the primarily invisible element of air visible; give tangible experience to itโ€™s existence; find itโ€™s source code and build language that can be shared by readers and viewers of both our publication and in exhibition format. This residency takes place from August through October 2023. During this time, we will pull from a variety of fields of study, a multitude of mediaโ€”utilizing visual, audio and tactile formats as needed to build multi-sensory experiences that engage with the forces of nature that both surround and live within us. ย

The work on ๐˜ผ๐™๐™ˆ๐™Š๐™Ž๐™‹๐™ƒ๐™€๐™๐™€ will be collaborative and experimental in nature. Artists will behave as a working group, meeting on zoom once a week. The time spent developing projects to be published and exhibited in Issue 11 is to be done as part of a remote residency program with Forecast Foundation, based in Los Angeles.

Artists will work remotely, traveling in order to collaborate when/however possible. Assistance with travel expenses and accommodations is provided as needed within reason on a case by case basis, materials will be provided and production costs will be covered in full. All artists will be working under the guidance of Forecast Creative Director Farida Amar who is responsible for funding and producing the whole publication and who will allow you as much creative freedom as possible while still making sure the work gets done on schedule, and all fits together nicely in itโ€™s final form and presentation.ย

Contact farida@forecastjournal.us if you are interested. There is no formal application process. Just let us know why you want to work on Issue 11 and where you are currently located. We will follow up with interviews and confirmations. Thank you!

Please email your suggestions, ideas or completed work to Forecast Digital Editor Kaylin Moore via kaylin@forecastjournal.usย for consideration.

We’re looking for a smart, creative, and delightful Assistant Editor to help with every aspect of the text production in our next issue of Forecast Journal, titled ๐˜ผ๐™๐™ˆ๐™Š๐™Ž๐™‹๐™ƒ๐™€๐™๐™€.

This role covers everything from…
